For most PCD pharma companies, new franchise partners come from two places: people the owner already knows, and leads bought from a pharma portal. Bought leads are easy to start with. You pay for a package, enquiries arrive, and your team calls them.
The problems show up later. On many portals the same enquiry can reach several companies, so you are racing competitors to the phone. Quality varies, and you can’t see which searches or pages produced a lead. And when the package ends, so do the leads, because none of the money built anything you own.
This guide covers seven ways to get franchise enquiries that come to you alone, and how to handle them so they turn into partners.
First: what a distributor checks before calling
Every channel below sends people to your website or your WhatsApp. Before a distributor calls a PCD company they have never heard of, they look for:
- The range. How many products, which divisions, which compositions.
- The terms. Monopoly rights, minimum order, margins, promotional support.
- Proof the company is real. Address, years in business, manufacturing partners, GMP or WHO-GMP certificates.
- A quick way to ask. A short form, a phone number and a WhatsApp button.
If your website doesn’t answer these, every lead source below works less well, including bought leads. That’s why the website comes first.
1. Rank for the searches distributors make
Distributors search Google every day for terms like “PCD pharma franchise in Punjab”, “derma PCD company” or “monopoly pharma franchise”. The companies on the first page get those enquiries without paying per lead.
The searches that convert best are specific: a range plus a territory, or a business model plus a range. You win them with:
- Range pages: gynae, derma, paediatric, ortho, cardiac-diabetic, each with the full product list in HTML, not just a PDF.
- Territory pages, only for states where you actually appoint partners, each with real information about availability, dispatch and contacts there.
- Product pages with the composition beside the brand name, so you rank for salt searches too.
Our PCD franchise SEO playbook covers the page structure in detail, including how to avoid near-identical city pages that can hurt the whole site. SEO takes months to build, but it is the one channel that keeps bringing enquiries after you stop spending.
2. Set up your Google Business Profile
When someone searches for your company name, or for “PCD pharma company near me” in your city, Google shows Business Profiles first. A complete profile with your real address, photos of your office and warehouse, your product categories and regular posts makes you look established, and gives distributors a direct call button.
It’s free. Keep the business name exactly as it is registered. Adding keywords to the name breaks Google’s guidelines and can get the profile suspended.
3. Run your own Google Ads
Google Ads puts you at the top of those same franchise searches within days, in the states you choose. The difference from bought leads is that every enquiry comes from your own ad and your own landing page, and goes only to you.
Pharma campaigns need a few things a general campaign doesn’t:
- Promote the opportunity, not the medicines. Google restricts ads for prescription drugs, so ads talk about the franchise, the range and the terms.
- Block the wrong searches. “MR job”, “medical representative vacancy”, medicine prices and online pharmacies bring clicks that will never become partners.
- Target by state or district, and exclude areas where your territories are already allotted.
- Track every enquiry: forms, calls and WhatsApp clicks, so you know your real cost per enquiry.
See pharma lead generation for how we set these campaigns up.
4. Make WhatsApp part of the funnel
Most franchise conversations in India end up on WhatsApp anyway, so plan for it:
- A click-to-WhatsApp button on every product and franchise page, with a pre-filled message such as “I’m interested in your derma range for my district”.
- A WhatsApp Business profile with your address, website and catalogue.
- Quick replies for the questions you answer every day: minimum order, monopoly terms, dispatch time, product list.
- A product list PDF that’s easy to forward. Distributors share it with colleagues, which brings more enquiries.
5. Ask your existing partners for referrals
Your current distributors know other distributors in nearby districts. A simple referral programme for partners, such as extra promotional material or a discount on their next order when someone they refer places a first order, often brings the best-qualified leads you’ll get.
Keep referral rewards between your company and your partners. Under UCPMP 2024, companies and their agents, including distributors, can’t give gifts or benefits to doctors. See UCPMP 2024 rules for pharma websites.
6. Use free listings and trade fairs to send people to your site
Pharma directories and B2B marketplaces usually offer a free profile alongside their paid packages. A complete free profile with your range, certificates and a link to your website costs nothing, and the enquiries it sends come to you.
Pharma trade fairs work the same way. Collect contacts at the stall, then send each one to the range page for the products they asked about, rather than handing over a brochure and hoping for a call.
7. Publish what distributors want to know
Short, useful pages answer questions before a distributor asks them, and rank for searches you’d never buy ads for:
- New product launches, with composition and packing
- How your monopoly rights work, and how territories are allotted
- Your minimum order and dispatch process
- Comparisons of your ranges for a specific speciality, without naming competitors’ brands
Keep everything written for distributors and healthcare professionals, not patients, and avoid cure claims and “100% safe” style wording.
Answer fast, and qualify before you call
The first company to respond to an enquiry usually gets the conversation. Whatever the source:
- Respond within the hour during working hours. Set up email and WhatsApp alerts for every form submission.
- Ask qualifying questions on the form: state, district, the divisions they’re interested in, and whether they already run a distribution business. Your team calls the best-fit enquiries first.
- Log every enquiry with its source, even in a simple spreadsheet: date, name, district, source, outcome.
Measure cost per partner, not cost per lead
A cheap lead that never signs costs more than an expensive lead that does. Once you log the source of every enquiry, you can compare channels properly.
As an example, if a month of Google Ads costs ₹30,000 and brings 60 enquiries, that’s ₹500 per enquiry. If four of those sign up, each new partner cost ₹7,500. Do the same sum for a bought lead package, using the partners it actually produced, and you know which channel deserves next month’s budget.
A 90-day plan
- Month 1: fix the website basics (range pages, franchise terms, certificates, WhatsApp button, enquiry form with qualifying questions); set up Google Business Profile; start logging every enquiry’s source.
- Month 2: launch Google Ads in two or three target states; complete free directory profiles; start a partner referral programme.
- Month 3: add range and territory pages for SEO; review cost per enquiry and per partner by channel; move budget to what works.
Bought leads can still have a place while this builds. The aim is that, a year from now, most of your new partners come from channels you own.
