Most third-party pharma manufacturers get new clients the same way: referrals, brokers, trade fairs and directory listings. All of them work, and all of them have the same weakness. The manufacturer waits for business to arrive through someone else, and competes on price the moment it does.
Marketing companies looking for a plant now start online. They search, shortlist three or four manufacturers, check their websites and message them on WhatsApp. This guide covers how to be on that shortlist for the kind of work you want: third-party, loan-licence or private-label.
We see this from the buyer’s side. Our sister company, Garwyn Remedies, is a PCD pharma franchise company that gets its products made by third-party manufacturers in Baddi.
Know which enquiry you want
The three models attract different buyers, and each deserves its own page, because each is searched for separately.
- Third-party manufacturing: you make the product under your manufacturing licence, and the marketing company sells it under its own brand. This is the bulk of enquiries from PCD franchise companies.
- Loan licence: the marketing company holds its own loan licence from the state licensing authority to manufacture at your plant, using your facilities. Buyers here tend to be larger and more regular, and they want to know about your capacity and documentation.
- Private label: you make and pack your existing formulations under the buyer’s brand. This is common in nutraceuticals, ayurvedic and cosmetic ranges, and suits startups and online sellers who want a short time to market.
If you only want some of these, say so clearly. A manufacturer that says “we do everything” gets every enquiry, including the ones it will turn down.
Answer the buyer’s questions before the first call
A marketing company shortlisting plants has the same questions every time. If your website answers them, the buyers who contact you are already serious.
- Can you make my product? A searchable product list by molecule, strength and dosage form. This matters most, because buyers search for the product first.
- Is the plant approved? WHO-GMP, GMP (Schedule M), ISO, FSSAI or AYUSH, shown as they appear on your certificates.
- Can you handle my volume? Your sections (tablet, capsule, liquid, ointment, injectable, softgel) and monthly capacity for each.
- What are the terms? Minimum order quantity, lead times, packing options and whether you help with artwork.
- How is quality controlled? Your QC and QA lab, testing and the documents you supply with each batch.
- Who will I deal with? A named person for third-party enquiries, with a direct phone and WhatsApp number.
Our page on websites for third-party pharma manufacturers shows how each of these becomes a section of the site.
Build pages for the searches buyers make
Buyers rarely search for a plant by name. They search for what they need:
- By dosage form: “tablet third party manufacturer”, “softgel manufacturer in India”, “dry syrup third party manufacturing”
- By model: “loan licence pharma manufacturer”, “private label nutraceutical manufacturer”
- By location: “third party manufacturer in Baddi”, “pharma manufacturing company in Himachal”
- By product: a specific molecule or combination
Give each dosage form you run its own page, with the products, capacity and photos for that section. Give each manufacturing model its own page too. A page about your softgel section can rank for softgel searches; a single “Products” page can’t rank for anything specific.
Location searches like “third party manufacturer in Baddi” are among the most competitive in pharma, because directories and hundreds of plants target them. Go after them, but expect the more specific dosage-form and product searches to bring enquiries sooner.
Show the plant, not stock photos
Before a first order, most buyers want to visit, and many decide whether to visit from your photos. Real images of your sections, machinery, QC lab and warehouse, or a short video walk-through, build far more trust than stock pictures of laboratories. Show the plant as it looks on a normal working day.
If your corporate office is in Chandigarh, Panchkula or Mohali and the plant is in Baddi, show both addresses clearly, each with a map. Buyers need to know where to meet you and where the product will be made.
Make WhatsApp the front door
Buyers often message several plants at once and work with the ones that reply first and answer clearly. Three changes help:
- Put a WhatsApp button on every page that goes to the person who handles third-party enquiries, not a general number.
- Prepare replies to the common questions (MOQ, lead time, product list, rates process) so the first answer is fast and complete.
- Send the product list PDF and company profile in the first reply.
Use Google Business Profile for the plant
A plant that receives buyer visits can have its own Google Business Profile, separate from the corporate office, as long as staff meet visitors there during the listed hours. Use the plant’s exact location and real photos. It helps buyers find you on Maps, and it shows up when they search your company name before visiting.
Run ads for the enquiries you want most
Google Ads can bring enquiries within days while your pages build up in search. Advertise the manufacturing service, not the medicines: Google restricts ads that promote prescription drugs. Target the searches for your strongest sections, such as “softgel third party manufacturing”, send each ad to the matching page, and measure cost per enquiry from the first week. Our pharma lead generation page explains how we set these up.
Keep the wording accurate
Licence numbers, certificate details and capacity figures should match your documents exactly, and your QA team should approve them before they go live. Product descriptions should follow the Uniform Code for Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices; our UCPMP 2024 guide covers what to avoid.
A 60-day plan
| When | What |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Decide which models and dosage forms you want more of. Collect your product list, certificates and capacity figures. |
| Weeks 2–3 | Photograph or film the plant. Set up the WhatsApp number and prepared replies. |
| Weeks 3–6 | Build or rebuild the website: product list, a page per dosage form and model, plant and quality pages, quote form. |
| Week 6 | Set up the plant’s Google Business Profile, and start Google Ads for your two strongest sections. |
| Weeks 7–8 | Measure enquiries by page and keyword. Keep what brings the work you want; drop what doesn’t. |
If your plant is in the Baddi–Barotiwala–Nalagarh belt or Solan, we can start with a visit to your plant. Elsewhere in India, we work over calls, video and WhatsApp.
