Pharma Website Cost in India: A Real Breakdown

What a pharmaceutical website actually costs in India in 2026, what drives the number up or down, and the six line items agencies quietly leave out of the quote.

Ask three agencies what a pharma website costs and you will get ₹18,000, ₹85,000 and ₹2,40,000 — for what sounds like the same brief. None of them is necessarily lying. They are quoting different things and describing them with the same words.

Here is what the money actually buys.

The honest market range

For a pharmaceutical company in India in 2026, the realistic bands are:

Scope Range What it is
Template site ₹12,000 – ₹25,000 A purchased theme with your logo and content dropped in
Custom corporate site ₹35,000 – ₹75,000 Designed for you, up to ~20 pages, catalogue up to ~100 products
PCD franchise site ₹45,000 – ₹1,20,000 Adds range-wise catalogues, state pages, gated list downloads
Catalogue / portal ₹90,000 – ₹3,50,000 Page-per-molecule, distributor login, order booking, ERP sync

Established pharma web agencies typically quote ₹35,000 to over ₹2,00,000 for this spectrum, which matches what we see. The range is not the problem. The problem is that scope is rarely written down precisely enough for you to compare two quotes.

What actually drives the number

Product count. Twenty products is a page. Six hundred products is an architecture — a data source, a template, a search index, a filter system, and a URL strategy that does not create thousands of near-duplicate pages.

Location pages. A single “Contact” page is trivial. Fifteen genuinely differentiated state franchise pages is a content project, and doing it badly (28 templated pages with the state name swapped) actively harms the domain.

Integrations. ERP or Tally sync, distributor login with role-based pricing, and GST-compliant document generation are each substantial engineering, not checkboxes.

Regulatory review cycles. If every page needs sign-off from a qualified person, the calendar stretches and so does the cost. Budget for it explicitly rather than discovering it in week five.

Content. The single most under-quoted line item. Someone has to write 20 pages of accurate, claim-safe copy. If the quote does not say who, the answer is you, at 11 p.m., the night before launch.

The six line items missing from most quotes

  1. Content writing. Frequently excluded, then added at ₹1,500–₹4,000 per page.
  2. Post-launch support window. Ask how long, in writing. “We’ll take care of it” is not a term.
  3. Redirect mapping on a redesign. Skipping this is how companies lose rankings they spent years building. It is real work and it should be a named deliverable.
  4. Speed engineering. Almost never quoted, because on a page-builder stack it cannot really be delivered.
  5. Schema markup. “SEO ready” usually means an SEO plugin is installed. It is not the same as a hand-built entity graph.
  6. Asset ownership. Confirm the code, domain, hosting and analytics are in your name. Some agencies keep the hosting relationship as a retention device.

Why architecture changes the maths

A WordPress pharma site with a page builder and thirty plugins carries permanent overhead: hosting that must be upgraded to stay tolerable, monthly plugin updates, periodic breakage, and a security surface that needs watching. Over three years, that maintenance frequently exceeds the original build cost.

A static build — the site compiled to plain HTML files at build time — removes most of it. There is no database, no plugin to update, no admin login to attack. It runs comfortably on an entry-level shared hosting plan. The build costs roughly the same; the three-year total cost of ownership is materially lower.

That is also why the speed difference is structural rather than a matter of effort. A compiled page arrives finished. An assembled page has to be built in the visitor’s browser first, and no amount of caching plugins fully undoes that.

How to compare two quotes fairly

Ask both agencies for the same five things in writing:

  • Exact page count and what each page contains
  • Who writes the content, and how many revision rounds are included
  • The Core Web Vitals target at launch, and what happens if it is missed
  • Redirect strategy, if this is a redesign
  • Post-launch support duration, and the hourly rate after it ends

The quote that looks expensive often stops looking expensive once both are described at the same resolution.

Our position

We publish our starting figures — ₹34,999 for a corporate pharma site, ₹44,999 for a PCD franchise build, ₹89,999 for catalogue and portal work — on the pricing page, because a hidden price is a filter rather than a service.

If you have a quote in hand and want a second opinion on whether the scope is honest, send it over with your domain. We will tell you what we think even when the answer is “that looks fair, take it.”
